Community Focused
At Arctic Lights we believe that a strong community is the key to an enjoyable game. We work hard to create a thriving, friendly community of players through many different policies and activities:
- Trained Staff
All of our staff members go through extensive leadership training in order to provide the best service possible for our players. Each staff member is expected to continue to participate in the community and help other players whenveer possible -- you won't find bad staff attitude here.
- Shared Responsibility
Rather than separating players from the development process of the site, we invite players to create community goals together, and work with us to help make those goals a reality. Our players decide for themselves what they want their community to be like.
- Social Justice Policies
Arctic Lights is a strong supporter of equal rights and acceptance of all. Our community has strong policies against hateful content and non-inclusive language, including the use of phrases like "that's so gay".
- Accessibility
One of our top priorities is ensuring that Arctic Lights is accessible for all. Our forums even teach players how to use alt tags in their images so that our blind users have less trouble with screen reader programs.
- Shared Learning
Our forums feature the unique "Learning Hub", a forum where players can host workshops and discussions on topics ranging from creating hand turkeys to the finer points of physics.
- Ongoing Events
Our staff members work hard to bring ongoing events to the community, from weekly "Success Fridays" where players can share the success of their week with each other, to larger seasonal events including contests, scavenger hunts, and giveaways.
- Getting Involved
There is always room to improve! If players want to get involved with the development of the site or the community, we will find a way for them to do so. We understand that community is built from shared ownership -- Arctic Lights isn't our game, it's yours.
