Terms Of Service

By using Arctic Lights (AL, site), you (player, players) agree to abide by the Terms of Service at all times. You understand that breech of these Terms may result in a loss of privileges within the site, freezing of your account, or banning from the site.

The Terms of Service are as follows:

  1. Arctic Lights is intended for players who are 13 or older, and its content is generally rated PG. If you are found to be under the age of 13, your account will be frozen. If you are a parent looking for further information, please see our Statement for Parents.
  2. Each player may have only one account. If multiple players are using a single computer or internet connection (siblings, etc.), an administrator must be notified. Failure to notify an administrator may result in your account(s) being frozen without warning. Accounts found to have been made for the purpose of cheating will be frozen automatically, and repeated breech of this rule may result in your permanent banning from the site.
  3. Accounts may not be shared.
  4. Accounts will not be deleted. Frozen or banned accounts will have inventory, currency, and dogs removed and recycled back into the game. AL reserves the right to re-assign these accounts at a later date.
  5. Every player is subject to the same rules and terms, regardless of contributions to the site. A donation, while greatly appreciated, does not exempt you from the rules.
  6. Site materials (virtual 'dogs', 'Corin dollars', 'tokens', accounts, items, etc.) may not be sold for real world currency. These may be traded for currencies of other SIM games. These materials may be removed at any time as a consequence of breech of Terms.
  7. Inappropriate content, including links to such content, is not permitted. Such content includes, but is not limited to, excessively graphic, violent, prejudiced, racist, sexual, or pornographic images or other media.
  8. Inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to, spamming, flooding, trolling, flaming, bashing, rudeness, harassment, cheating, lying, stealing, or hacking is not tolerated. Being on the computer does not give you the right to abandon common decency. If you wouldn't do it in 'real life', you should not be doing it here.
  9. The use of images, prose, or other artistic media without permission from the artist is art theft, and is a crime everywhere, not only on AL. Art theft is taken very seriously on this site, and will result in serious consequences. (For information on copyrights, creative commons, and crediting, click here.)
  10. Bugs or loopholes in the game must be reported. Abuse of bugs, loopholes, or other 'cheats' is cheating and will not be tolerated.
  11. All other site Terms of Service are respected here. Breech of another SIM or any other website's Terms of Service or policies will not be tolerated on AL.
  12. Arctic Lights is not a dating service. Any forms of posting "ads" and the like are not acceptable.
  13. Posting personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, and full names should be avoided at all costs, as it is an extremely dangerous practice. Such information will be deleted on sight.
  14. All content must be in English due to moderation issues. Names of dogs, teams, and kennels may be in Spanish as long as there is a Spanish speaker on staff. If more languages become available due to staff abilities, these will be noted here.
  15. Arctic Lights is not responsible for any emotional distress that may be caused by the game or players on it. We do our very best to monitor everything as closely as possible, but we cannot guarantee we can be everywhere at once.
  16. While it is our goal to keep Arctic Lights open for as long as players want to play, AL may be closed at any time, and donations will not be refunded.
  17. Personal information such as IP numbers, e-mails, passwords, etc. is stored by our systems and may be viewable by administrators. This information will not be shared with any outside parties and is used solely for the purpose of account log-ins and security.
  18. All content on this site (ideas, concepts, artwork, etc.) is (C) to Arctic Lights and is not to be redistributed or reused under any circumstances without direct permission from the owner. Please see our policy on fanart.
  19. These Terms are subject to change at any time. Players will receive notification when changes have been made, and will not be punished ex post facto.
